About Behaviour Interactive

Behaviour Interactive is a Canadian video game developer, publisher and co-development provider founded in Quebec City in 1992. Its business spans original games and publishing, external services for AAA partners, and immersive entertainment, an operating model the company describes as “The Power of Three.”

The studio’s best-known original property is the asymmetrical multiplayer survival-horror game Dead by Daylight, released in 2016 and supported as a live-service title across platforms. Its original catalogue also includes Meet Your Maker, What the Fog, Naughty Bear, WET, and the co-developed The Casting of Frank Stone. Earlier work includes Jersey Devil, described in the research as the first console game produced entirely in Quebec.

Development and live-service capabilities

Behaviour provides full-game development, external co-development and engineering, game design and systems balancing, cross-platform porting, QA and test automation. Its live-operations work encompasses telemetry, balancing, moderation and community management. The studio also develops location-based multimedia and immersive digital experiences.

Its external-development record includes work connected with Fallout Shelter, Mortal Kombat 1, Call of Duty: Vanguard, F1 22, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, Days Gone, Gears 5, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall.

Growth and history

Founded by Rémi Racine as Megatoon, the company merged with Multimedia Interactive before operating as Artificial Mind and Movement (A2M) from 2000. It returned to the Behaviour Interactive name in 2010. The modern company has expanded its direct development presence from Montréal into Toronto, the United Kingdom and Rotterdam, while adding independently operated studio subsidiaries including Red Hook Studios and The Fun Pimps.

Behaviour’s portfolio combines original IP, technical collaboration and ongoing service-based game support. Its work covers PC, console, mobile and cloud platforms, as well as interactive media and location-based entertainment.

More about Behaviour Interactive

Early corporate transition

Following a management buyback in 1999, the studio rebranded as Artificial Mind and Movement (A2M) in 2000. During the A2M period, it developed a reputation for work-for-hire production on licensed console adaptations before returning to the Behaviour Interactive name in 2010.
