About Kabam

Kabam is a Canadian video game developer and publisher focused on free-to-play mobile and cross-platform games. Founded in 2006 as Watercooler, Inc., the company initially developed social-networking applications for sports and entertainment communities before rebranding as Kabam in 2010 and shifting its focus to online and mobile games.

The company first gained prominence through web and social strategy titles including Kingdoms of Camelot, then moved toward high-fidelity mobile development. Its Vancouver studio became a central part of the business following the 2013 acquisition of Exploding Barrel Games and the release of Fast & Furious 6: The Game. In 2014, Kabam released Marvel Contest of Champions, a fighting RPG that became a defining live-service title for the company.

In 2017, Netmarble acquired Kabam's core operating assets, including the Vancouver development studio, Austin support operations and San Francisco business-development functions. Kabam subsequently expanded through the 2019 acquisition of Riposte Games & Co., which became Kabam Montreal and develops Shop Titans. Netmarble US operations were merged into Kabam in 2022, adding Los Angeles-based publishing and studio capabilities.
