About Framestore

Framestore is a British visual-effects, computer-animation and creative-production studio founded in London in 1986. It works across feature film, episodic and streaming productions, advertising, branded content, immersive media and location-based entertainment.

The studio delivers visual-effects work from early creative development through final shot delivery. Its teams support concept art, pitchvis, previs, techvis, postvis and virtual art department planning, alongside photorealistic live-action integration, CG asset work, character and creature animation, digital environments, matte painting, lighting, compositing and high-end finishing.

Creative capabilities

  • Film and episodic VFX spanning design, complex shot work and large-scale production pipelines
  • Character and creature work including digital grooms, fur, cloth, muscle, tissue and skin simulation
  • Effects and environments including fluids, fire, smoke, destruction, atmospheric phenomena and world building
  • Virtual production using LED volumes, in-camera VFX, real-time tracking and motion capture
  • Advertising and production covering creative direction, VFX, animation, design, finishing and live-action commercial production through Framestore Pictures
  • Immersive experiences for theme parks, interactive installations, spatial media and large-format digital signage

Framestore's screen credits include The Golden Compass, Gravity, Blade Runner 2049, Barbie, Top Gun: Maverick, Wicked, Deadpool & Wolverine and the Paddington films. Episodic work includes The Crown, His Dark Materials, Fallout, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, 1899, Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Black Mirror. Its immersive work includes Jurassic World Adventure, Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Field Trip to Mars and A Moon For All Mankind.

The company merged with The Computer Film Company in 1997, operating briefly as Framestore CFC before returning to the Framestore name. In 2020, Framestore joined Company 3 within the FC3 group, bringing visual effects together with a separately operated post-production and colour-grading business. Method Studios' former film and episodic teams in Melbourne and Montréal were subsequently integrated into Framestore's global pipeline.

Framestore remains active as a global VFX and creative-production company, combining artists, technologists and producers across its international studio network.
