About NetEase Games

NetEase Games is the interactive entertainment and online-games division of NetEase, Inc., developing and publishing games for PC, console and mobile platforms. Established as a dedicated games division following the 2001 launch of Westward Journey Online, it combines first-party development, worldwide publishing and co-development with external entertainment partners.

Its portfolio spans long-running proprietary franchises and newer multi-platform releases, including Fantasy Westward Journey, Westward Journey Online, Onmyoji, Knives Out, Identity V, Eggy Party, Naraka: Bladepoint, Marvel Rivals, Once Human and Where Winds Meet. The division also supports licensed publishing and co-development initiatives, including work connected with Blizzard Entertainment, Mojang AB and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Development and publishing

NetEase Games works across the full game lifecycle, from design, research and development to publishing, marketing, live operations and esports activity. Its capabilities include:

  • AAA cross-platform game development for PC, console and mobile
  • MMORPGs, tactical and hero shooters, battle royale games, action-adventure titles and social multiplayer experiences
  • Global publishing, localization, culturalization and player acquisition
  • Online infrastructure, anti-cheat, payment and quality-assurance operations
  • Third-party licensing, co-development and international art, animation and technical-art outsourcing management

The organization uses proprietary technology including the NeoX and Messiah game engines, alongside AI research and generative technology associated with NetEase Fuxi Lab. Its domestic operations are organized around the Guangzhou-anchored Interactive Entertainment Group and the Hangzhou-anchored Thunder Fire Business Group.

Global interactive entertainment

NetEase Games maintains development, publishing and operational hubs across China, Asia, North America and Europe. Its international expansion includes investment in and ownership of separately operated creative studios, while the division continues to develop and publish its own game portfolio. The company is active as part of the publicly traded NetEase, Inc. group.
