About NBCUniversal

NBCUniversal is an American multinational media and entertainment company and a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation. Established in 2004 through the combination of General Electric’s NBC division and Vivendi Universal Entertainment, it draws on the respective histories of NBC and Universal Pictures while operating a contemporary portfolio across film, television, streaming, news, sports, interactive entertainment, consumer products, and themed destinations.

Its filmed-entertainment activities encompass theatrical production and distribution through banners including Universal Pictures, DreamWorks Animation, and Focus Features. The company’s screen portfolio includes franchises and productions such as Fast & Furious, Jurassic World, Oppenheimer, Wicked, Despicable Me, Shrek, and How to Train Your Dragon.

Screen, Broadcast & Streaming

NBCUniversal operates the NBC broadcast network alongside NBC News, NBC Sports, Telemundo, Bravo, and the Peacock streaming service. Its television credits include Saturday Night Live, The Office (U.S.), Law & Order, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, 30 Rock, Bel-Air, Hacks, Poker Face, and The Voice. Its sports output includes Olympic Games telecasts, Sunday Night Football, and Premier League coverage.

Experiences & Interactive Production

Through Universal Destinations & Experiences, the company develops and operates theme-park and resort businesses, including Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort. It also supports consumer-products and brand-licensing activity.

NBCUniversal has expanded its direct interactive production through an internal Montréal games studio developing AAA open-world, real-time entertainment projects using Unreal Engine 5. The work includes technical and artistic disciplines spanning character animation, procedural world building, and systemic gameplay.

In January 2026, Comcast completed the separation of several former NBCUniversal linear cable networks and digital properties into independently operated Versant Media Group, enabling NBCUniversal to focus its investment on broadcast, streaming, film, and destination businesses.
