About Moonbug Entertainment

Moonbug Entertainment is a global digital-first children’s and family media company that develops, acquires and expands entertainment properties across video, music, consumer products and live experiences. Founded in 2018 by René Rechtman and John Robson, the company has grown from a digital-native IP operator into a multi-platform franchise business serving preschool and family audiences.

Its portfolio includes widely distributed brands such as CoComelon, Blippi, Little Baby Bum, Little Angel, Morphle, ARPO, Oddbods and Supa Strikas. Moonbug combines 3D CGI and 2D animation with live-action edutainment, preschool music and audio programming, adapting its properties for streaming, linear television, connected-TV channels, licensing and theatrical formats.

Building children’s franchises

Moonbug’s operating model focuses on identifying established digital channels and developing them into broader entertainment franchises. Its early acquisitions included Little Baby Bum and My Magic Pet Morphle, followed by CoComelon and Blippi in 2020. The company subsequently added properties including ARPO: The Robot for All Kids, Little Angel and Oddbods to its library.

The company distributes content through major digital and television platforms, including Netflix, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube Kids, while also operating 24/7 linear and FAST offerings such as The Moonbug Channel and Blippi & Friends. Its commercial activities extend to brand partnerships, consumer-products licensing, music publishing and international family touring productions.

Music, learning and screen-to-stage extensions

Moonbug’s children’s music activity includes Big Feelings Music and Moonbug Music, the latter developed in partnership with Universal Music Group. Its storytelling also spans research-informed preschool content, live-action formats and theatrical character experiences. A feature-length CoComelon: The Movie is in development with Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation.

Moonbug Entertainment became part of Candle Media in 2021. The company continues to operate as an active children’s entertainment business, developing franchises for audiences across digital, broadcast, audio, retail and live-event channels.
