About Mob Entertainment
Mob Entertainment, Inc. is an American independent video game developer and transmedia entertainment studio founded in 2015 by brothers Zach Belanger and Seth Belanger. Originally established as EnchantedMob, the company built an early audience through narrative-driven 3D CGI animation, music videos, and web shorts before expanding into commercial game development. It later operated under the Mob Games name before unifying its brand as Mob Entertainment in 2022.
The studio is best known for Poppy Playtime, an episodic first-person survival-horror series set in the abandoned Playtime Co. toy factory. The franchise began with Chapter 1: A Tight Squeeze in 2021 and has continued through multiple chapters, combining environmental storytelling, puzzle mechanics, mascot-horror characters, and an expanding fictional universe. Mob Entertainment has also developed Project: Playtime, a free-to-play asymmetrical multiplayer co-op horror title, and announced Escape From Playtime, a co-op survival-horror game centered on the Smiling Critters.
Games, animation and franchise development
Mob Entertainment combines game development with animation, publishing, and broader IP development. Its supported capabilities include:
- Survival-horror development using Unreal Engine
- Episodic game design and multi-platform publishing
- 3D CGI animation, cinematics, and narrative video production
- Mascot-horror worldbuilding and lore development
- Transmedia franchise expansion, licensing, and consumer-product commercialization
- User-generated-content experiences across Roblox, Fortnite, and Minecraft
The company has extended the Poppy Playtime universe into cross-platform experiences including Poppy Playtime: Forever on Roblox, Poppy Playtime in Minecraft, and the Escape Trials Fortnite Creative experience. Its work also spans an ongoing library of EnchantedMob animated productions for YouTube.
Mob Entertainment operates as a hybrid-forward, remote-friendly studio with its physical headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. The company remains independently led by its original co-founders and continues to develop original games and entertainment extensions around its owned franchises.
