About Mad Head Games
Mad Head Games is a Serbian video game developer focused on action and action-adventure titles for PC and consoles. Founded in 2011 in Novi Sad, the studio began in the casual and Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure market before evolving toward core game development using Unreal Engine.
Its early breakthrough came with Rite of Passage: The Perfect Show in 2012, which began a long publishing relationship with Big Fish Games. Across the following decade, the team released more than 60 commercial games, including entries in the Rite of Passage, Nevertales, Cadenza, Sea of Lies, Maze, and Dark Realm series. Later releases such as Adam Wolfe and Pagan Online marked the studio’s transition into narrative adventure and action-RPG development.
Core production capabilities
Mad Head Games provides full-cycle game development for PC and console productions, spanning:
- Game, narrative, and systems design
- Gameplay, UI, and engine programming
- Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5 engineering and tool development
- High-fidelity 3D environments, character art, texturing, and visual effects
- Cinematics direction, character animation, and MetaHuman and Houdini workflows
- Quality assurance, optimization, and turnkey production
The studio’s current work reflects its focus on high-fidelity action games. It shipped the third-person sci-fi action-adventure shooter Scars Above in 2023 and is developing Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival, a first-person action-horror survival title. It is also working on an unannounced AAA production based on a major global franchise.
Mad Head Games was acquired by Saber Interactive in November 2020. Following Saber Interactive’s 2024 management-led separation from Embracer Group under Beacon Interactive, Mad Head Games remained part of the Saber network. The company operates development hubs in Novi Sad, Belgrade, and Sarajevo.
