About League of Geeks

League of Geeks is an independent Melbourne game-development studio creating high-production-value digital games rooted in tabletop principles, strategy, and deep systems design. Operating as a self-described “Triple-i” studio, it develops for PC, console, and mobile platforms.

The studio’s work spans digital board games, turn-based and political grand strategy, sci-fi simulation, gameplay systems, technical rendering, UI/UX art, and 2D/3D character and environment art. Its development capabilities include Unreal Engine and Unity 3D, alongside full-cycle game design, live-service operations, community management, and publishing.

Games and worlds

League of Geeks made its debut with Armello, a digital strategy board game that launched in 2015 following a successful 2014 Kickstarter campaign. The game has been released across PC, consoles, and mobile platforms.

Its later projects include:

  • Solium Infernum (2024), a turn-based political grand-strategy game set in Hell
  • Jumplight Odyssey (Early Access 2023), a retro-sci-fi starship roguelite simulation
  • Paperbark (2018), a bushland exploration adventure co-developed with Paper House

In the early 2020s, the studio expanded to develop Solium Infernum and Jumplight Odyssey concurrently. Industry-wide capital constraints and cancelled investment led to restructuring in late 2023, including the indefinite pause of Jumplight Odyssey. After Solium Infernum launched in February 2024 and its Belphegor DLC followed in April, League of Geeks entered an indefinite hibernation while maintaining online servers and live operations for Armello and Solium Infernum.

Return to development

By September 2026, the studio had announced its emergence from hibernation, with recruitment for a new unannounced PC and console project and a planned return to hybrid physical-studio operations in Melbourne. League of Geeks received Studio of the Year at the 2020 Australian Game Developer Awards.
