About DigitalFilm Tree
DigitalFilm Tree is a Los Angeles-based post-production, visual effects, finishing and creative-technology studio founded in 1999 by filmmaker and technologist Ramy Katrib. The independently owned company combines live-action VFX, editorial, color, dailies, restoration and production-technology development for episodic television, features, documentaries and commercial work.
Its visual-effects work spans compositing, paint and roto, beauty retouching, matte extraction, CG environments and sequence supervision. The studio also provides digital-intermediate color grading, Dolby Vision and HDR finishing, master conform, titling, quality control, versioning, and archival remastering. Editorial suites, color rooms and a 24-seat DI screening theater support both finishing and review workflows.
Connected production workflows
A central part of DigitalFilm Tree’s offering is its patented GEOpost® Network and GEOdailies platform: a hybrid-cloud environment for camera-to-cloud dailies, secure media transport, distributed review and remote color collaboration. The studio uses these systems to support geographically dispersed teams without relying on physical media shipping.
DigitalFilm Tree also develops Cinecode, its virtual-production and previsualization practice. Using real-time tools including Unreal Engine and Unity, Cinecode helps directors and cinematographers plan camera movement, lighting and visual-effects requirements before principal photography.
Experience across screen production
The studio’s credited work includes series such as Scrubs, Ted Lasso, Shrinking, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Umbrella Academy, Manifest, Bad Monkey, High Potential, The Conners, Roseanne and For All Mankind. Feature and special-project credits include Cold Mountain, Napoleon Dynamite, Her, Horizon: An American Saga, Crank, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Mardik: Baghdad to Hollywood and Eyes of Fire.
DigitalFilm Tree has a long history in file-based post-production. It designed and supported the Final Cut Pro workflow used on Cold Mountain and later supported a prime-time digital television workflow for Scrubs. Today, its work brings together traditional post-production craft, secure cloud infrastructure, virtual-production planning and distributed collaboration.
