About Wooga
Wooga is a Berlin-based mobile game developer and publisher focused on story-driven casual games. Founded in 2009, the studio began in social gaming before shifting to iOS and Android development in 2011. Its current work centres on narrative-led hidden-object, puzzle and match-3 experiences designed for free-to-play mobile audiences.
The company develops and operates games across the full product lifecycle, combining game development with narrative architecture, episodic content, live operations, data analytics, user acquisition, monetisation and global player support. Its work is particularly associated with hidden-object gameplay, narrative game design, rapid mobile prototyping and in-game event management.
Games and portfolio
Wooga’s catalogue spans early social games and later mobile titles, including:
- June's Journey
- Pearl's Peril
- Ghost Detective
- Switchcraft: Magical Match 3
- Tropicats
- Diamond Dash
- Bubble Island and Bubble Island 2: World Tour
- Jelly Splash
- Monster World
- Magic Land Island
- Agent Alice
June's Journey, released in 2017, became the studio’s flagship story-driven hidden-object game. The title’s success followed a 2016 strategic restructuring in which Wooga narrowed its focus to story-driven casual games and narrative puzzle mechanics.
Company development
Wooga was acquired by Playtika Holding Corp. in December 2018 while retaining its studio brand and creative identity within Playtika’s casual-games portfolio. The business operates as Wooga GmbH and is ultimately part of Playtika’s global games group.
The studio’s Berlin team works from the Dockyard Waterfront Offices in Friedrichshain, following a 2024–2025 move from its longstanding Backfabrik premises. The facility supports the company’s hybrid working model and brings together development, art, narrative, analytics, user-acquisition, operations and leadership functions.
More about Wooga

- Dennis Korf became Managing Director on January 1, 2025, succeeding Nai Chang.
- Founder Jens Begemann led Wooga until 2020; Nai Chang then served a five-year leadership tenure before Korf’s appointment.
Studio history
Wooga briefly operated an indie-focused label, Black Anvil Games, during its mid-2010s expansion. The company’s late-2016 restructuring ended peripheral ventures and refocused the business on story-driven casual games.
