About Trailmix

Trailmix is a London-founded mobile game developer and publisher focused on casual free-to-play experiences. Established in December 2017 by industry veterans Carolin Krenzer and Tristan Clark, the studio builds games that combine accessible, bite-sized puzzle play with longer-form narrative, character-driven storytelling.

Its best-known original title is Love & Pies, a narrative merge-2 game for iOS and Android that launched in September 2021. Set around a bakery renovation, mystery and romance, the game is developed, operated and published by Trailmix as a live service. The company also has unannounced mobile projects in active development.

Trailmix’s work spans the full lifecycle of casual mobile games, including:

The studio describes its creative approach as making games that are “snackable yet nourishing”: easy to fit into everyday life while offering the emotional depth associated with television drama or literature. Its products are designed for iOS and Android and include Unity 3D-based development.

Growth and ownership

Supercell Oy first invested in Trailmix in February 2018 and acquired a majority stake in May 2022. Trailmix continues to operate autonomously within Supercell’s investee network while expanding its development capacity.

The company’s London studio supports executive leadership, product management, engineering, narrative design, art production and live operations. In October 2023, Trailmix opened a Berlin development studio to create original casual mobile titles and broaden its European talent base.

Trailmix’s work has received recognition at the TIGA Games Industry Awards, including honours for Love & Pies as Best Casual Game in 2021 and Best Puzzle Game in 2023. The studio’s portfolio remains centred on narrative-led casual games with ongoing live-service support.

Leadership and studio practice

  • In September 2026, James Nicholas became Chief Executive Officer. Co-founder Carolin Krenzer transitioned to Executive Chair and Director of the Trailmix group.
  • Co-founder Tristan Clark served as co-founder and creative leader, and stepped down from his formal UK directorship in May 2025.

Recognition and milestones

  • Trailmix received the Google's Choice Green Game Jam Award in 2023 and was named among GamesIndustry.biz Best Places to Work in 2023.
  • The company was selected for Tech Nation’s Future Fifty cohort in 2024.
  • Before forming Trailmix, Krenzer and Clark helped build King’s London studio and worked on Farm Heroes Saga; this is part of the founders’ prior experience, not a Trailmix credit.
