About Saber Interactive Porto
Saber Interactive Porto is a Portuguese AAA game-development studio based in the Greater Porto metropolitan area. Originating in 2008 as Bigmoon Interactive Studios, the team initially worked across multimedia, television animation and contracted game projects before building a reputation for vehicle simulation, racing games and technically demanding console work.
The studio became part of Saber Interactive in 2019 after collaborating with the group on a Nintendo Switch port of Call of Cthulhu. Following the acquisition, it was re-incorporated as Saber3D Porto, Unipessoal Lda and rebranded as Saber Interactive Porto, commonly known as Saber Porto. It operates as an individual development subsidiary within the wider Saber network.
Development capabilities
Its work spans full-cycle AAA game development, co-development and co-production, with particular strengths in:
- Off-road and motorsports simulation
- Open-world game environments
- Physics-based vehicle dynamics
- High-fidelity 3D modelling, texturing and PBR asset pipelines
- Technical engineering, engine optimisation, porting and remastering for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC
- Unreal Engine and proprietary Saber3D engine development
Selected work
The studio led development of Dakar Desert Rally, an open-world rally simulation released in 2022, and is leading development on the in-production vehicle title Road Kings. It also co-developed the Crysis Remastered Trilogy with Crytek and Saber Interactive.
Earlier work from the Bigmoon era includes Dakar 18, Police Simulator: Patrol Duty, Syndrome, Demons Age, Trapped Dead: Lockdown and Trapped Dead: Lockdown. The team has also provided console-porting and adaptation work for projects including Call of Cthulhu, Alekhine's Gun, Lichdom: Battlemage and Jagged Alliance: Back in Action.
Today, Saber Interactive Porto combines art, game-design and engineering disciplines for multi-platform productions and collaborative AAA projects across the Saber group.
