About PUBG Studios
PUBG Studios is a South Korean AAA game-development studio and the core creative team behind PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. Operating within KRAFTON, Inc., the studio develops and evolves multiplayer shooter experiences spanning live-service operations, gameplay systems, world building, animation, visual effects, and technical infrastructure.
Its history began in 2009 as Ginno Games, Inc. After joining Bluehole in 2015 and later becoming PUBG Corporation in 2017, the business focused on the breakout success of PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS. In December 2020, PUBG Corporation merged into KRAFTON, with publishing and corporate functions moving to the parent organization while the development teams continued under the PUBG Studios brand.
Development focus
PUBG Studios works across the production and long-term operation of large-scale multiplayer games. Its supported capabilities include:
- Battle royale design and AAA shooter development
- Live operations, content maintenance, and competitive infrastructure
- Unreal Engine development, including UE4 and UE5 work
- Gameplay engineering, networking, anti-cheat systems, and procedural generation
- 3D art, character animation, motion capture, visual effects, shaders, and technical art
- Open-world environment creation, level design, and terrain-generation work
The studio continues to support and expand the PUBG franchise through engine upgrades and new projects. Its credits include PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, NEW STATE MOBILE, PUBG Mobile, Battlegrounds Mobile India, the upcoming tactical PvPvE extraction shooter PUBG: Black Budget, and the earlier action MMORPG Devilian.
PUBG Studios maintains its core development presence in Seoul alongside North American development operations. The organization combines ongoing game production with live-service maintenance for a globally recognized multiplayer franchise, while KRAFTON provides corporate, publishing, and regional business support.
