About Pocket Sized Hands
Pocket Sized Hands is an independent Dundee-based game development studio specialising in technical co-development, full-cycle production and cross-platform delivery. Emerging from Abertay University’s game-development ecosystem, the company incorporated in 2017 and has grown from early work in virtual reality, augmented reality and serious-game simulations into a technical partner for publishers and developers across entertainment, education and enterprise applications.
Its engineering-led work spans Unity, Unreal Engine and Godot, with services covering multiplayer and backend implementation, live operations, performance optimisation, production pipeline architecture and console certification. The studio develops for PC, mobile, current-generation and legacy consoles, Steam Deck, and XR platforms including Meta Quest and PC VR.
Co-development and platform delivery
Pocket Sized Hands supports projects throughout development and after launch, from technical production and feature work to porting, optimisation and ongoing content updates. Its console work includes PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch releases, while its live-service experience encompasses backend pipelines, multiplayer systems and long-term operational support.
Selected work includes six years of live-operations, backend and content support for Rick and Morty: Pocket Mortys; co-development and console optimisation for Oddworld: Soulstorm and its Enhanced Edition; and console and Steam Deck work for the Bendy series. The studio has also delivered the Unreal Engine Meta Quest title Smalland: Survive the Wilds VR, worked on the VR project Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom, and contributed to titles including Hazard Pay, Clive ’N’ Wrench, Lumo 2 and Folly of the Wizards.
Beyond commercial games, the company has applied interactive-development expertise to serious and educational projects, including Dish Life: The Game for University of Cambridge and ReproSoc, and the AR educational companion app Milo’s World. This combination of entertainment production, technical problem-solving and interactive applications positions Pocket Sized Hands to support projects with demanding platform, performance and systems requirements.
