About Piranha Games
Piranha Games is a Canadian AAA game developer focused on PC and console action titles, tactical simulation shooters, and long-running live-service experiences. The studio develops games across the full production cycle, combining game design, engineering, art, narrative, audio, animation, environment creation, and real-time multiplayer systems.
Its work is closely associated with the BattleTech and MechWarrior universe. After acquiring video-game rights to the franchise, the team launched MechWarrior Online in 2013, building a free-to-play tactical mecha combat experience around 12v12 battles and ongoing live operations. The studio later expanded the franchise with MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, a premium single-player action game released in 2019 and supported with narrative expansions and downloadable content. In 2024, it released MechWarrior 5: Clans, a standalone cinematic campaign set during Operation Revival and built with Unreal Engine 5.
