About Midas VFX
Midas VFX is an independent, artist-led visual effects and post-production studio established in 2020 by VFX supervisor Marc Hutchings. The company combines boutique creative direction with scalable production support for feature films, episodic television, premium streaming productions, commercials, and fashion and beauty work.
Its services span VFX consultancy and concept development, on-set pre-production and supervision, asset creation, FX and simulation, CG environments and set extensions, matchmove, roto and prep, compositing, digital de-aging, and beauty retouching. The studio also offers AI and machine-learning solutions, in-house VFX team partnering, technical vendor checks, and quality-control support for high-volume deliveries.
Midas developed from a collaborative team that had worked together in Covent Garden from around 2013, before incorporating as MIDAS VFX LTD in 2020. Its London and Mumbai teams support an integrated pipeline for CG, tracking, roto/prep, compositing, and client-facing VFX supervision.
Selected work
- Star Wars: Andor Seasons 1 and 2, including more than 1,400 final shots for the first season and more than 1,700 for the second
- The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2
- Steal, for which Midas served as sole VFX vendor across all six episodes
- The Day of the Jackal, Jurassic World: Rebirth, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, House of the Dragon, Thirteen Lives, Willow, and Bob Marley: One Love
For its work on Andor Season 2, the studio’s contribution was recognised with the 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects; Midas VFX Supervisor Paolo D'Arco received an individual Emmy statuette.
More about Midas VFX
Leadership and operating model
Midas VFX is led by Founder and Head of VFX Marc Hutchings. Its senior team includes Head of Production Sara El Jamghili, Head of Pipeline Mads Hagbarth, CG Supervisor Andrew Robertson, VFX Supervisors Paolo D'Arco and Adam Hopper, and Mumbai Studio Head Bharat De.
The company describes its structure as an artist-led alternative to more bureaucratic post-production models. Its Mumbai studio was established to provide scalable capacity and continuity within the company’s production pipeline rather than relying on third-party outsourcing.
Security and delivery standards
Both studios are reported to operate with Disney Tier 1, Amazon Tier Zero, and TPN Gold security credentials. Alongside creative delivery, Midas provides technical quality control and vendor-tech checking for large shot volumes; on Andor Season 1 it managed technical QC across roughly 3,800 vendor deliveries.
