About Limestone Media & Entertainment
Limestone Media & Entertainment is a Canadian animation and digital-media production company based in Kingston, Ontario. Operating publicly and in trade credits as Limestone Animation, it develops and produces 2D animated episodic series and digital content, with an emphasis on original intellectual property, book-to-screen adaptations, and international co-productions.
The studio’s production approach combines a digital pipeline centred on Toon Boom Harmony with visual development, character design, environmental art, and production management. Its work encompasses stylized, cinematic and anime-influenced aesthetics, using rig-based character animation alongside specialized hand-drawn sequences where a project calls for them.
Production capabilities
- Full-lifecycle 2D animation production
- Script-to-screen storyboarding and animatics using Toon Boom Storyboard Pro
- Character and asset rigging, including creature and prop design
- Concept art, visual development, background design and digital painting
- Production tracking through ShotGrid / Autodesk Flow Production Tracking
- Finishing and integration using Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Premiere Pro
Limestone works across television, streaming and youth-oriented digital entertainment, while also pursuing publishing adaptations and international content-distribution opportunities. The company has presented work to buyers at MIPCOM in Cannes and is developing co-production relationships in the animation market.
Current slate
Its debut slate is led by R.L. Stine’s Stinetinglers, an animated horror-anthology series based on the books by R.L. Stine. The project is the first adaptation of a Stine literary work made exclusively for animation. It uses a stylized 2D visual direction informed by anime, combining digital rigs with hand-drawn animation passages.
Established in 2025, Limestone is an active early-stage studio building production teams across technical direction, storyboarding, character design and background painting. Its Kingston facility supports both commercial animation production and a broader commitment to developing local creative talent through training and educational engagement.
