About LightSpeed Studios
LightSpeed Studios is a global game-development studio group within Tencent Games’ Interactive Entertainment Group. Its roots trace to Quantum Studios, established in Shenzhen in 2008; Tencent merged Quantum with LightSpeed Studio in 2014 to form LightSpeed & Quantum Studios. The group adopted the LightSpeed Studios name globally in June 2022 alongside its LIGHTSPEED Universe initiative.
The studio develops AAA console and PC games, mobile titles, and cross-platform live-service experiences. Its work spans open-world narrative and action games, multiplayer engineering, strategy, shooters, sports, RPGs, and casual or board games. LightSpeed also operates central technology and art teams supporting proprietary engine research, graphics optimisation, audio, artificial intelligence and machine learning, technical art, and performance capture.
Games and production capabilities
Its credited work includes PUBG MOBILE, Peacekeeper Elite / Game for Peace, Undawn, Final Fantasy XIV Mobile, Apex Legends Mobile, NBA Infinite, League of Legends: Wild Rift (Chinese version), Rhythm Master, Asura Online, Tencent Mahjong / Happy Mahjong, and Super NBA. LightSpeed LA is developing Last Sentinel, an open-world cyberpunk action title.
Supported production services include:
- Full-cycle AAA production for console, PC, and mobile
- Co-development and strategic IP adaptations
- Large-scale live-service operations and esports integration
- Performance capture, audio suites, and virtual-production services
- Cross-media IP incubation through LightSpeed Pictures and the LightSpeed Exploration Lab
International network
LightSpeed combines internal production teams with regional development hubs and technology centres across China and international markets. Its organisation includes Quantum Studio, R Studio, S Studio, TiKi Studio, Happy Studio, LightSpeed LA, and LightSpeed Japan Studio. The group’s global expansion supports development, publishing, localisation, technical leadership, cloud architecture, AI and backend engineering, and visual-production work across multiple regions.
LightSpeed is active as a Tencent game-development group, with a portfolio that connects mobile-scale operations with AAA and original-IP development.

Recent development
In late July 2026, LightSpeed LA reorganised the development team working on Last Sentinel, shifting creative direction and reducing approximately 80 roles while offering internal transfers. LightSpeed Studios publicly reaffirmed that the Irvine studio remains open and that North American AAA development continues to be part of its long-term strategy.
