About Hooligan Animation
Hooligan Animation is an independently owned Australian animation studio established in 2022 to develop and produce adult and children’s animated entertainment for international broadcasters and streaming platforms. Its work spans original development, co-productions and scalable production services, combining story development with 2D, 3D, stop-motion and hybrid animation techniques.
The studio offers end-to-end production support from scripts, storyboards, character and world design through voice direction, animation, compositing, rendering and delivery. It also provides work-for-hire animation production, including 2D rigging, scene planning, layout and visual-effects support, alongside early-stage creative development and production-financing structuring for Australian and international projects.

Recent productions
Hooligan Animation is producing Deano, an eight-episode adult animated comedy derived from Dean Thomas and David Ferrier’s Childish Deano web series. The series is a co-production with BBC Studios and 20th Television Animation for BBC and Hulu, with Joe Brumm serving as script editor and executive producer. The studio’s animation work on the project is supported by Australian Producer Offset and Screen Queensland PDV funding.
The company also took on animation production and character-rigging pipelines for Season 3 of The Freak Brothers. Hot House Tiger Mama, created by Sal Balharrie, is in late-stage development with the Hoodlum and Hooligan Animation team.
Hooligan Animation acknowledges that its Brisbane operations create on the unceded lands of the Turrbal and Yuggera (Jagara) peoples.
