About El Guiri Studios
El Guiri Studios is an independent 3D animation and visual-effects studio delivering projects from early visual development through final delivery. Its work combines creative direction, script and story development, character and environment design, animation, look development, lighting, compositing, and VFX supervision for animated film, episodic work, branded entertainment, and immersive media.
The studio’s production model brings front-end artistic development together with technical CG execution. Its capabilities include high-end character animation, cinematic look development, concept art, storyboarding, previs, crowd simulation, motion-capture integration, and real-time asset and cinematography workflows. Since 2023, it has integrated Unreal Engine into its core pipeline, using real-time rendering, dynamic lighting, and virtual-camera controls to support iteration on episodic and long-form projects.
Selected work
- Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 — “Sith” (2023), an original animated short for Lucasfilm and Disney+, written and directed by Rodrigo Blaas. Carlos Salgado received an Annie Award nomination for Production Design/Art Direction connected with the episode.
- Duende, an original animated feature in development directed by Blaas, combining Spanish flamenco traditions with Japanese motifs.
- One Morning VR (2018), a high-fidelity animated virtual-reality short directed by Blaas and co-produced with Lytro; it was a 2018 Webby Awards nominee.
- Continued development of narrative adaptations and intellectual property connected to Blaas’s 2009 short film Alma.
- A custom animated identity and introductory film for San Diego Comic-Con Málaga.
The studio works across traditional linear CG production and real-time technologies, with a focus on storytelling-led visual design and cinematic animation. Its creative output is characterized in the supplied research by bold colour design, stylised world-building, and an interest in bringing Spanish artistic and cultural references into contemporary animated storytelling.
