About Big Shot Pictures
Big Shot Pictures is an American animation and entertainment studio that publicly launched in January 2026. Founded by producer Brian Robbins, the Los Angeles-based company develops kids and family franchises through a digital-first approach that tests character concepts, animated shorts and digital worlds with online audiences before expanding successful properties into film, television, games, themed experiences and consumer products.
The studio combines franchise development with animation production, using real-time CG workflows built around Unreal Engine, Control Rig and MetaHuman alongside Blender, ZBrush and markerless motion-capture tools. Its work spans 2D and 3D animation, short-form social and episodic content, long-form feature and television development, and IP acquisition and adaptation.
Digital-first franchise development
Rather than beginning exclusively with traditional, long-cycle theatrical development, Big Shot Pictures uses audience engagement on platforms such as YouTube to inform how projects are grown. The model is designed to take properties from early digital formats into broader entertainment and consumer-products opportunities.
A multi-year first-look agreement with Sony Pictures Entertainment supports theatrical distribution for animated and live-action feature films. The company is independently venture-backed and operates as an active production and franchise-development business.
Current projects
Its announced slate includes:
- Eloise, a multi-platform adaptation of Kay Thompson and Hilary Knight’s classic property, including an animated television series developed with Adley McBride.
- Alvin and the Chipmunks, for which the company acquired a minority stake and is developing short-form digital content and a theatrical reboot.
- An in-development IShowSpeed anime series centered on creator Darren Watkins Jr.
- The Bucket List Family, an in-development mixed-media animated series combining 2D and 3D animation with live-action travel footage.
The leadership team includes co-founder and president Shuiyin (Sherry) Liu and head of film Adam Rosenberg. Big Shot Pictures continues to recruit for its animation, production and corporate teams while building a slate intended for young audiences across digital and traditional entertainment formats.
