About the role
Role Overview
- Role: Senior Visual Design Artist – League of Legends (12 Month Contract)
- Location: Dublin, Ireland
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid basis
- Team Structure: Embedded in a Dublin-based team; reports to the Production Director; collaborates with the Art Director, developers, art, game design, UX design, and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Help shape UI direction for League of Legends features, defining directions that meet creative goals and artistic direction.
- Create visually balanced and intuitive interfaces demonstrating a strong grasp of readability, hierarchy, platform, and player behaviour patterns.
- Create and extend themes throughout the project, establishing style guides, design systems, and conventions.
- Understand concepts and processes behind existing guides while identifying when to break rules.
- Collaborate with art, game design, UX design, and engineering to create a compelling visual experience that meets player interaction goals.
- Create assets through all stages of development, driving concepts from early ideation to in-game engine implementation.
- Utilize deep knowledge of systemic design, graphic design, interactivity, layout, typography, colour theory, and illustration to create seamless player experiences.
- Possess a growth mindset, seeking mentorship from discipline artists and the community.
- Uphold, innovate within, and elevate the quality bar for the discipline.
- Work autonomously to uphold craft best practices in Dublin while empowering local developers.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience contributing to a major feature, game, product launch, or entertainment property through visual communication design.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Visual Designer, UI Designer, or UI Artist.
- Expert knowledge in Figma.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the game development pipeline including optimization, localization, and implementation.
- Experience in Adobe CC products including Photoshop.
- Familiarity with game engines (Unity / Unreal).
- Experience in secondary areas such as motion graphics, illustration, animation, or modeling.
- Experience working in a distributed development environment.
