About the role
Role Overview
Shape the combat and co-op experience in Helldivers 2 by leading intuitive, accessible UI design from concept to implementation. Design, improve, and lead the development of intuitive, accessible, and immersive UI systems, spanning both the heat of combat and the meta game around it, from Galactic War and strategy planning to social and squad systems. Ensure clarity in and out of chaotic combat scenarios without breaking immersion.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of complex, high-impact UI systems such as HUD, inventory management, strategy planning interfaces, or social menus.
- Drive the UI design workflow from wireframing and prototyping to creating art assets and supporting implementation within the current UI ecosystem.
- Collaborate closely with other UI and game designers, artists, and engineers to ensure cohesive and functional UI solutions.
- Ensure UI systems align with the overall creative vision in a live-service game.
- Optimize UI assets for performance, accessibility, and a seamless user experience.
- Contribute to UI-related discussions in design meetings and actively influence decision-making.
- Mentor and exchange knowledge with fellow UI designers.
Requirements
- Senior level experience in a similar role within the games industry, for AA or AAA titles and/or for co-op or live-service games.
- Proven experience designing and implementing high-quality, intuitive UI systems, end to end, from wireframe to prototype to final art asset.
- A strong understanding of UX principles and best practices in game UI design.
- Comfortable working with UI middleware such as Noesis GUI.
- Familiar with design tools such as Figma, Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop.
- Ability to work independently, take responsibility, and spot issues before they become problems.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments (kanban, standups, design reviews).
- Enjoys mentoring and knowledge-sharing.
- Strong communication skills with a cooperative attitude.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Must already have the right to work in Sweden and be based in or near Stockholm.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with Stingray or a comparable proprietary engine.
- Console certification experience (PlayStation TRC / platform conventions).
- Accessibility design experience (colorblind modes, subtitle/HUD scaling, controller remapping).
- Experience working in a Contractor/Plug & Play model.
Practical Information
- Contract type: Fixed-term, 9 months (ideal start: January 2027).
- Scope: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Location: Stockholm office, hybrid setup possible.
