Description

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. The EA SPORTS™ UFC franchise delivers fluid and responsive mixed martial arts through inventive gameplay technology to over 20 million players. As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will help build a motivated team and bring a background of varied technical capabilities including system design, engineering workflows, and online architectures. You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager or Technical Director.


Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of people management for diverse and global engineering teams, including hiring, career growth, promotions, and performance management.
  • Improve team health, including stress awareness and managing employee well-being.
  • Organize and lead mentoring, knowledge-sharing, and guidance to grow engineers.
  • Drive staffing and recruitment for teams and help grow the engineering culture.
  • Foster an agile engineering culture that values delivery, quality, and craftsmanship.
  • Determine technical resource requirements to meet project goals.
  • Promote and create technical processes, plans, and management of tasks for technical teams and features.
  • Coordinate strategic efforts and planning with team members, project partners, product owners, and other stakeholders.
  • Improve workflows, tools, and iteration loops to increase productivity.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in engineering and technology by attending conferences, seminars, and meet-ups.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Leadership: 5+ years of experience leading agile engineering teams of 6+ engineers.
  • People Management: Experience with mentoring, goal setting, mediation, and career planning.
  • Recruitment: Experience identifying and recruiting talent, including knowledge of interviewing techniques.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Technical and practical understanding of OOP and C++ to coach engineers in their trade.
    • Familiarity with development environment tools such as Perforce, Git, and Visual Studio.
    • Familiarity with Continuous Integration, Delivery, and Deployment best practices.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay Range: $141,400 - $204,400 CAD (British Columbia)
  • Benefits:
    • 3 weeks of vacation per year to start.
    • 10 days per year of sick time.
    • Paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary for new child arrivals (12 weeks for maternity, 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave).
