Internship Overview
Activision is seeking talented and innovative students for summer 2027 internships. Interns will receive a meaningful project, access to tools and resources, and the opportunity to contribute to team workflows. All internships are in-person, with the specific schedule determined by hosting managers.
Program Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program with a graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Available to participate in a 12-week program starting in mid-May or mid-June.
- Currently residing in the US or open to relocating to the US.
- Exhibits learning agility, the ability to think differently, and the capacity to grasp and apply new skills.
- Approaches problems in a clear, well-organized, and solutions-oriented manner.
- Works well within teams and contributes to team tasks.
- Effectively communicates problems, solutions, needs, and priorities.
- Demonstrates engagement, time management, and a passion for game development.

Internship Opportunities
Backend Engineering Intern
- Role: Build backend systems and tools supporting data-driven optimization across game development workflows. Collaborate with engineers and content creators to analyze performance, streamline pipelines, and improve developer tools.
- Requirements:
- Experience with C++, Python, or C# in software development.
- Familiarity with SQL, Spark, or Presto for data analysis.
- Exposure to game engines (Unreal, Unity) and debugging tools.
- Interest in backend systems, build pipelines, and performance optimization.
- Location: Central Technology (Santa Monica, CA)
DevOps Intern
- Role: Build and support custom tools to streamline game development workflows. Contribute to scripting, automation, and front-end interfaces for internal systems. Collaborate across teams to improve developer experience and infrastructure.
- Requirements:
- Skilled in Python, JavaScript, and Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with GitHub, Perforce, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiar with front-end frameworks and web development.
- Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.
- Passionate about game design, tooling, and developer productivity.

Release Engineering Intern
- Role: Support the technology and processes powering game releases. Partner with engineers to improve build pipelines, automate workflows, and deliver high-quality game updates.
- Requirements:
- Experience with Python, C#, or other scripting/programming languages.
- Familiarity with software development, build systems, or CI/CD pipelines.
- Interest in automation, DevOps, and release management.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Passion for gaming and technology.
- Exhibits learning agility.
- Location: Release Engineering (Sherman Oaks, CA)
Tools Engineering Intern
- Role: Improve workflows for the Call of Duty team, focusing on developer tools, back-end hardware, and cloud infrastructure.
- Requirements:
- Proficient in at least one common language (C/C++, Go, Python, Rust) and familiarity with others.
- Understanding of source control.
- Familiarity with both IDE and CLI-based workflows.
- Knowledge of (or curiosity about) Windows and Linux internals, networking (including network security), container development, and data storage methods.
- Location: Central Technology (Portland, ME)
Logistics and Benefits
- Relocation: Interns have the option to opt into relocation services (flights, trains, or car mileage reimbursement).
- Stipend: All interns are provided with a living stipend for housing, utilities, commuting, and miscellaneous costs.
- Compensation: Standard base pay range is $20.00 - $50.00 hourly. Compensation is based on experience, performance, and location. Incentive compensation may be eligible but is not guaranteed.
