THE ROLE

The Post Production Manager will join Whisper Cymru’s in-house post-production team in Cardiff. This role is for a technically minded professional with experience managing a post-production team and meticulous attention to detail. The role is client-facing and requires a motivated individual to support the Whisper Cymru Post department and the wider Cardiff-based production team. Responsibilities include assisting at every stage of post-production, involvement in project planning, managing and mentoring edit assistants, and providing technical support.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manage and maintain edit, grade and audio suites and the technical infrastructure behind them.
  • Own first- and second-line technical support for post-production staff across all in-house edit suites.
  • Monitor and maintain shared storage, SAN/NAS, MAM and backup systems to ensure media is moved and protected.
  • Manage the network infrastructure supporting post, including bandwidth, routing, security, and uptime, in collaboration with the Head of Technical Operations.
  • Diagnose and fix hardware, software and workflow issues with minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Manage relationships with kit vendors, software suppliers and maintenance contracts.
  • Plan and deliver system upgrades, licence renewals and hardware refreshes without stopping production.
  • Build, maintain and test disaster recovery and backup protocols.
  • Line-manage and develop a team of edit assistants.
  • Work with production and post teams to plan technical requirements for upcoming projects and live events.
  • Keep documentation and system configurations current and accessible.

Note: Responsibilities may be amended, added to, or removed to reflect the changing needs of the production or organisation.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Proven experience managing technical operations in a post-production or broadcast facility.
  • Deep working knowledge of post-production systems, with a particular focus on Adobe Premiere, the Adobe Creative Suite and the infrastructure behind them.
  • Strong grasp of shared storage, MAM, networking and IT systems in a media environment.
  • A track record of solving problems under time pressure, without drama.
  • Experience managing a team and external suppliers.
  • A clear communicator who can translate technical detail for non-technical people.
  • Comfortable working shifts, weekends and live event schedules when the calendar demands it.
