About Whisper

Whisper is an independent production house and host-broadcast agency working across live sport, unscripted television, documentaries, entertainment formats, branded content and remote live production. The business operates internationally from hubs in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia, producing programming for broadcasters, streaming services, rights-holders and brands.

Its sports work includes host broadcasting and presentation production for Formula One and Channel 4’s Paralympic coverage, alongside live match production for UEFA Women’s EURO and the Women’s Super League. Whisper has also been appointed host broadcaster for Roland-Garros from 2025 to 2029, delivering world-feed, court and presentation coverage for the Fédération Française de Tennis.

Production capabilities

  • Host broadcasting, live event production and multi-feed sports coverage
  • Remote galleries, remote commentary and cloud-enabled production workflows
  • Unscripted development, premium sports documentaries and observational series
  • Prime-time entertainment formats, including quiz and game shows
  • Branded entertainment, commercials and digital video campaigns
  • Post-production, media asset management, broadcast graphics and motion design

The company’s entertainment and factual slate includes Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, NFL Show, NFL End Zone, Ben Stokes: Phoenix From The Ashes and Sven. Its regional teams have also delivered productions including All Blacks: In Their Own Words, live Kings League MENA and PFL MENA broadcasts, and major BBC entertainment programming.

Whisper’s Cardiff operation includes the Cymru Broadcast Centre, an accessible remote-production and post-production facility developed with Creative Wales and Channel 4. The centre supported Channel 4’s Paris 2024 Paralympic coverage, reflecting the company’s focus on scalable live workflows for major events.

Following Sony Pictures Television’s divestment of its minority holding in March 2026, Whisper returned to private, management-led ownership. The company continues to develop international sports, entertainment and documentary work under the Whisper brand and The Whisper Group trading identity.

More about Whisper

Leadership and company history

Whisper was founded in October 2010 by former BBC sports producer Sunil Patel, television presenter Jake Humphrey and Formula One driver David Coulthard. Patel remains the company’s CEO.

In 2019, the business refreshed its consumer and trade branding from Whisper Films to Whisper and created The Whisper Group identity for its regional production subsidiaries and creative partners. Channel 4’s Growth Fund was a minority investor from 2015 to 2020; Sony Pictures Television then held a 30% minority stake from February 2020 until its March 2026 divestment.

Operating model

Whisper’s March 2026 return to private ownership was supported by external growth debt financing and a company-wide employee equity scheme. The business reported a global workforce of more than 300 staff in 2026.
