About the role

The Company

SUPERPROD develops, produces and distributes animated and fictional feature films and TV series and has its own animation studios in Paris, Angoulême, Milan and Luxemburg as well as an office in Los Angeles.

Position Details

  • Contract Type: CDD (Fixed-term)
  • Duration: 3 months
  • Work Schedule: Full-time
  • Location: Paris (France preferred; hybrid or remote considered for the right candidate)
  • Stage: Development/Short-Term

Post Description

We're looking for a Production Designer to originate the visual identity of a new adult animated series during development. This is a foundational creative leadership role: you'll be one of the first creative hires on the project, tasked with figuring out what the show looks like and proving it out through concept art and style frames.

  • Originate the overall visual style of the show, including color, lighting, world design, and tone, in close collaboration with the showrunners.
  • Lead a small visual development team through concept art, style frames, character and environment design that will guide the show if it moves into production.
  • Build and manage a development-phase team working across different time zones, adapting review cycles and communication so the work stays aligned without requiring everyone online at once.
  • Guide design decisions for mature content and story-driven violence: work with the creators to ensure early designs and key art support action that serves character and narrative rather than existing for its own sake.
  • Present and iterate the visual direction for studio reviews as the project moves through development.

Profile Required

  • Experience: Prior experience as a Production Designer or Art Director on an animated series or feature, ideally including development-phase work and mature or adult-skewing content.
  • Creative Skills:
    • A demonstrated track record of originating a new visual style from scratch, not just executing an established one.
    • Strong fundamentals across color, lighting, character, and environment design.
  • Leadership: Experience directing a small design team distributed across multiple time zones or studio locations.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, required for presenting and defending a visual point of view to decision-makers while it is still being defined.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Experience with a 2D/3D hybrid pipeline.
    • Comfort working with violent or intense content and a clear point of view on how to render it so it's purposeful rather than gratuitous.
