Role Overview
Lighting & Compositing - Sydney, New South Wales (Hybrid)
Flying Bark Productions is a dynamic and innovative animation studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of character animation and storytelling. Current projects include the Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix's Ghostbusters animated series, the Stranger Things animated series, and the upcoming feature film, Zac Power.
As a CG Lighting Artist, you will work closely with compositors and creative Leads to achieve the creative brief set out by the VFX Supervisor. You will play a critical role in the execution and delivery of the high-quality visual style of the production.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with compositors and creative leads to achieve the creative brief set out by the VFX Supervisor.
- Confidently use provided tools and software to execute and deliver the high-quality visual style of the production.
- Maintain consistency of lighting across all shots.
- Optimize and troubleshoot lighting and rendering problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Work closely with compositors to bring shots from lighting through to final, maintaining timing and production quotas.
- Interpret creative briefs, whether verbal or visual.
- Work within a team and maintain good team dynamics.
- Problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned tasks.
- Self-manage and complete tasks within production deadlines.
- Communicate and seek information when necessary.
- Be adaptable, flexible, and responsive to changes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 4+ years of production experience in 3D animated films and/or animated episodic.
- Experience lighting and rendering with Arnold using Katana.
- Experience in Nuke to create a pre-composite tree that combines rendered elements.
- Portfolios demonstrating graphic stylisation of reality (e.g., Spiderverse, Entergalactic, Arcane, and The Witness [Love, Death, Robots]) are preferred.
