Your layout work brings the initial vision to life, allowing us to pre-visualise shots and build a rock-solid foundation for downstream CG departments to construct the final image. You'll play a vital role in ensuring continuity and flow across sequences, solving technical challenges to keep the pipeline moving smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Stage and block cameras and assets to create compelling shot composition.
- Oversee the ingestion of both Previs and Postvis data.
- Set up and maintain Conforms.
- Restage cameras and assets as the creative needs of the shot evolve.
- Maintain shot content specifically tailored for the Animation team.
- Oversee the ingestion and distribution of Motion Capture data.
- Solve facial capture data to help bring digital performances to life.
Mandatory Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of Maya, alongside a solid understanding of the broader visual effects pipeline.
- Demonstrable experience in sequence and shot composition.
- Solid understanding of practical cameras, camera techniques, and cinematography within a virtual environment.
- Excellent technical and creative problem-solving skills.
- A proactive approach to identifying issues and maintaining continuity across sequences.
- The ability to work confidently under pressure and manage short turnaround times.
- A collaborative mindset with an openness to taking direction and feedback.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience matching scene layouts to previs or storyboard references.
- Experience in camera tracking and animation blocking.
- Basic scripting skills in Mel and Python.
- Experience using Dynamixyz or similar facial tracking software.
- Excellent organisation skills with a knack for creating tidy scenes for the rest of the pipeline.
Accessibility and Inclusion
- Our London studio is fully accessible, with step-free entry, accessible toilets on all floors, and quiet spaces available.
- We are committed to supporting disabled colleagues and providing an inclusive workplace for everyone.
- Framestore is proud to employ extraordinary talent across all genders, races, nationalities, religions, ages, abilities and sexual preferences.
- We aim to encourage and support all of our current and future employees to achieve their potential.
- No individual will receive less favourable treatment on any basis when applying for a career with us.
- The requirements listed in our job descriptions are guidelines, not hard and fast rules. You don’t have to satisfy every requirement or meet every qualification listed. If your skills are transferable and you feel like the role is right for you then we encourage you to apply.
