Experienced Gameplay Animator – 3+ Month Freelance Contract
Overview
- Duration: 3 month minimum freelance contract (extension possible but not guaranteed).
- Schedule: 4 day work week (closed every Friday).
- Location: UK and Europe based only.
- Start Date: September.
Responsibilities
- Create high quality, hand keyed animations.
- Collaborate with project leads and other disciplines to ensure animations function as intended in-game.
- Provide feedback and support to less experienced animators.
- Work with both hand-keyed and motion capture data.
- Problem solve typical game development issues.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in gameplay animation.
- Previous experience in games development with multiple shipped titles.
- Demoreel demonstrating strong keyframe combat, excellent body mechanics, and gameplay mechanics.
- Capable of accurately estimating work and meeting deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of Maya.
- Experience in UE5 (advantageous).
- Pleasant to work with, strong communication skills, ability to understand briefs.
- Accountable, responsible, and a clear communicator.
Lead 3D Games Animator – Permanent
Overview
- Location: Europe Remote or Leamington Spa office.
- Responsibilities: Leading projects, working alongside the animation team to create believable high-quality character animations. Project management, client liaison, and management of multiple animators and their workload.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years industry experience in video games (freelance experience is a bonus).
- Create high quality, hand keyed character, creature, and environmental animations.
- Lead and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure animations work as intended in-game.
- Exceptional self-management skills.
- Manage and mentor internal and external animators.
- Pleasant to work with, strong communication skills, ability to understand briefs, meet deadlines.
- Accountable, responsible, clear communicator, and problem solver.
- Ability to adapt and work with new technologies and workflows.
- Ability to switch between cartoony and realistic styles.
- Experience working with motion capture data and leading shoots.
- Capable of creating schedules and committing to delivery dates.
- In-depth knowledge of Maya; understanding and experience with rigging and skinning.
- Ability to implement work in-engine, including state machines and related concepts.
- Experience with multiple game engines and multiple shipped titles (Unity and UE4/5 advantageous).
- Team player, open to giving and receiving feedback.
- Desire to learn new tools, techniques, and processes.
