Job Description

Purpose:

  • To create FX assets for a CG animated series based on the visual and narrative requirements established by the Art Director and episodic Director, while working within the technical specifications of the show.
  • To coach and develop the work of other FX Artists in the team.

Delivery:

  • Artistically and technically accurate FX assets and shots in collaboration with the Art Department
  • Pipeline and IT tickets
  • Technical documentation outlining the department and show specific processes for creating FX assets

Measurements:

  • Completion of tasks within agreed schedule
  • Handling of revisions and tweaks effectively
  • Team development & technical capability

Key Responsibilities

  • Completion of FX assets and shots within the agreed time allowed.
  • Proactively problem solving; creating the IT and pipeline tickets to address any technical problems for the department.
  • Logging time into time logging software daily.
  • Contributing to best practices and pipeline within in the studio.
  • Reviewing own assets and shots and that of the FX team (internal and overseas) at dailies with the FX lead and the production team.
  • Collaborating in animatic reviews.
  • Conducting Technical approvals on FX assets and shots from internal and overseas artists.
  • Advising in casting of resources.
  • Contributing to the development of tools and workflows.
  • Coaching and training of other team members.

Key Requirements

Knowledge:

  • Launching FX Artists on FX shots for each episode on a production.
  • HD technical reviews.

Experience:

  • Coaching and mentoring a team of artists.
  • Leading artists through the FX Launch to completion of FX assets and FX shots.

Technical Skills:

  • Able to advise, improve and troubleshoot, making contributions to best practices and workflow within the studio.

Employment Terms and Benefits

Salary Range: $85,000 to $100,000 per year.
