Role Overview
Playstation is looking for a Software Engineer to build next-generation technologies and applications in the Madison, WI campus. The role focuses on applying modern web technologies and methodologies to build a commerce platform and customer experience. This is a hybrid contract role with a flexible work-from-home policy.
The Team
The team focuses on building client application experiences for PlayStation consoles, websites, mobile applications, and other services. These features serve millions of users globally.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and document business-critical features and applications.
- Work with Product Owners and Product Managers to understand feature requirements, capture technical requirements, and craft solutions for components and applications for the PlayStation ecosystem.
- Strive for quality, improve processes, propose standard methodologies, and drive their usage within the teams.
- Develop JavaScript-based applications for PlayStation gaming consoles, web, mobile, and future flagship Sony devices and services.
- Build digital commerce solutions for PlayStation games, media content, subscription services, and more.
- Write robust unit and component tests to ensure reliability and prevent regressions.
- Work quickly and optimally in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
- Work independently and collaborate with internal and external engineers.
- Collaborate with team members by reviewing and providing feedback on pull requests and design plans.
- Define and refine technical approaches that support performance, accessibility, and scalability.
- Exercise feature-building capabilities and collaborate within the team to optimize existing solutions.
- Deploy platform experiences through CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor software releases, analyze telemetry, and adapt to production data.
- Continuously learn, experiment, and participate in Hackathons and Café Days.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 3+ years of relevant work experience.
- 2-3 years of experience building product experiences with proficiencies in UI technologies.
- Passion for robust, sustainable, and high-quality code.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Capability to produce detailed design and development documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, the JavaScript ecosystem, and frameworks such as React, Angular, Jest, and TypeScript.
- Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot.
- Familiarity with GraphQL, REST APIs, and containerization tools such as Docker.
- Understanding of build pipelines and CI/CD standards across multiple platforms.
- Experience with performance optimization, accessibility, and responsive design principles.
- Curiosity about AI-assisted development tools or automation to improve developer efficiency.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base pay range: $51.62 - $77.42 CAD per hour.
- Eligible for benefit offerings including medical, dental, and vision.
