Internship Overview
Activision is seeking talented and innovative students for summer 2027 internships. Interns will receive a meaningful project and an unparalleled experience with tools and resources to support learning. Challenging and creative work will directly impact contributing teams.
Working Conditions
- Format: All internships are in-person.
- Office Schedule: Hosting managers determine the frequency and timing of in-office work.
- Relocation: Interns have the option to opt into relocation services (flights, trains, or car mileage reimbursement).
- Stipend: All interns receive a living stipend to subsidize housing, utilities, commuting, and miscellaneous costs.
Program Requirements
- Education: Currently enrolled in an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program with a graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Availability: Must be able to participate in a 12-week program starting in mid-May or mid-June.
- Residency: Currently residing in the US or open to relocating to the US.

Internship Opportunities
Backend Engineering Intern
Build backend systems and tools that support data-driven optimization across game development workflows. Collaborate with engineers and content creators to analyze performance, streamline pipelines, and improve developer tools.
- Requirements:
- Experience with C++, Python, or C# in software development.
- Familiarity with SQL, Spark, or Presto for data analysis.
- Exposure to game engines (Unreal, Unity) and debugging tools.
- Interest in backend systems, build pipelines, and performance optimization.
- Location: Central Technology (Santa Monica, CA)
DevOps Intern
Build and support custom tools that streamline game development workflows. Contribute to scripting, automation, and front-end interfaces for internal systems used by designers and engineers. Collaborate across teams to improve developer experience and infrastructure.
- Requirements:
- Skilled in Python, JavaScript, and Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with GitHub, Perforce, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiar with front-end frameworks and web development.
- Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.
- Passionate about game design, tooling, and developer productivity.
- Location: Central Technology (Sherman Oaks, CA)
Release Engineering Intern
Support the technology and processes that power game releases across Activision studios. Partner with engineers to improve build pipelines, automate workflows, and help teams deliver high-quality game updates and releases.
- Requirements:
- Experience with Python, C#, or other scripting/programming languages.
- Familiarity with software development, build systems, or CI/CD pipelines.
- Interest in automation, DevOps, and release management.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Passion for gaming and technology.
- Exhibits learning agility and can quickly apply new skills and concepts.
- Location: Release Engineering (Sherman Oaks, CA)
Tools Engineering Intern
Improve workflows for Call of Duty development, including work on developer tools, back-end hardware, and cloud infrastructure.
- Requirements:
- Proficient in at least one common language (C/C++, Go, Python, Rust) and familiarity with others.
- Understanding of source control.
- Familiarity with both IDE and CLI-based workflows.
- Knowledge of (or curiosity about) Windows and Linux internals, networking (and network security), container development, and data storage methods.
- Location: Central Technology (Portland, ME)
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay Range: $20.00 - $50.00 hourly (base pay range for new hires across all U.S. locations).
- Compensation Factors: Specific offer based on experience, performance, and work location. Incentive compensation may be available but is not guaranteed.
