About the role
Position Overview
Zynga’s data science and analytics team uses unique and expansive data to model and predict user behavior, making games more personalized and fun to play. The team strives for a better understanding of players to translate into challenges and features that delight them and increase social engagement. Responsibilities include identifying and formalizing problems to understand user behavior, creating systems and analyses to derive insights, and communicating findings to technical and non-technical peers. Solutions must be impactful, visual, and maintainable. The role involves working with game teams to put models into production and collaborating with Product Managers, Game Designers, and Engineers to deliver business impact.
What You’ll Do
- Work with large amounts of data to find opportunities to improve the player experience.
- Deliver analytics and data science projects aligned with the roadmap and product goals, balancing actionable insights to substantially improve core game metrics.
- Drive and empower the game studio to make quantitatively informed, evidence-based decisions through maintaining source of truth data sources and dashboards.
- Work closely with the game team to design, test, verify, and implement machine learning models and product features within Zynga’s games that impact millions of users.
What You Bring
- Education: BS in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, or other quantitative field; Masters, MBA, or PhD preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of work experience in data science or analytics roles.
- Technical Skills:
- Fluent in SQL.
- Solid experience with programming in Python.
- Adept in at least one visualization tool such as Tableau or QlikView.
- Experience in analyzing large datasets, preferably in a Hadoop or Spark environment, and deploying production-ready systems at scale.
- Core Competencies:
- Demonstrable experience with statistics, experimental design, machine learning, and deep learning.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, product managers, analysts, and marketing to deliver unambiguous business impact.
- Strong passion for gaming.
