Spud Gun Studios is hiring a freelance Background Artist for a fast turnaround project.
Project Overview
We are creating a shot-for-shot recreation of a well-known trailer, reimagined in a 2D cartoon style. The work involves taking hyper-realistic environments and rebuilding them as stylized cartoon backgrounds while keeping the original layout, composition, and camera movement structurally identical.
Requirements
- Background artist comfortable with complex environments involving foreground, midground, and background elements that move independently.
- Experience using 3D software to recreate camera movements that can then be painted or shaded in a cartoon style.
- A strong understanding of light and shadow across 2D and 3D.
- Comfortable with both organic/natural and urban/man-made environments.
Portfolio Submission
- Examples of backgrounds and layouts that show range across environment types.
- Both rough layouts and fully painted work.
- A track record of delivering to a high standard and on schedule.
Working Conditions
- This role is remote.
- Candidates must be available within some UK working hours.
