Were playing it a little close to the vest right now – were a small, experienced game and XR development team whove worked on some things you might have heard of on PC, console, mobile and VR. In fact, we know youve heard of them and bet youve played them! Our CEO and CTO have nearly five decades of game development experience between them, and 20 years of experience in XR, including being a pre-Facebook acquisition Oculus team member – the good ol days, as Michael Abrash says.
And we can say that weve had primary, leadership roles on these things.
Were not quite announcing who we are yet; we are busy building out the company processes and benefits, like health insurance – were committed to treating our team as valued humans with the resources we have gathered through our pre-seed funding round.
Were going to make a formal announce in July. But … were hiring now. So it stands to reason, you want to know something about us.
Our vision: we want to make VR/MR games that use the best affordances of our medium. If its mixed reality, virtual reality, 2D – we want to explore the space, not shoehorn console mechanics onto XR.
Do the non-obvious, as one of the original Oculus leadership once said. We think the non-obvious things are the ones that have the potential to bottle lightning – you know, like cutting blocks with laser swords to music, or scampering around a playspace with simian arms.
We want to take the best things from our AAA experience, our indie experience and meld them into a game development philosophy and approach that we own, as a team.
We want to build games that make players feel joy and surprise. We love to play Elden Ring or Last of Us like the next gamer; we want to make things that scratch different itches.
We want to make games with people we love to make games with. Team culture is hard to build, and once you build it – harder to change.
We value integrity, transparency, focus, kindness, candor, rigor, ambition, creativity, diversity of thought and opinion – in no particular order. Because youll shuffle the stack rank of those traits depending on the situation.
We will never cover up poor planning with crunch. We will never use crunch to extract maximum value out of our team members. We know giving 100% isnt sustainable; youll need rest. And forget about giving 110%, the math doesnt add up!
We want to make something lasting for our players, durable for our company, remembered for the medium.
