About Wylie Co.

Wylie Co. is an independent, artist-led visual-effects studio providing pre-visualization, post-visualization, and final-pixel work for feature films, episodic television, commercials, and interactive media. Founded in 2015 by visual-effects supervisor Jacob “Jake” Maymudes and CG supervisor Carl Harders, the company began in Venice, California as Rebellion VFX before adopting the Wylie Co. name.

The studio combines embedded editorial and on-set support with a full post-production pipeline. Its work includes 2D and 3D compositing, matchmove, clean-up, rotoscoping, look development, lighting, rendering, character work, digital pyrotechnics, destruction simulation, CG environments, and digital doubles. Wylie Co. also provides rapid-iteration previs and postvis, multi-vendor VFX quality control, and camera-tracking applications for virtual production.

Technical approach

Wylie Co. has developed proprietary tools including Vislab and Wylie Cam, which support virtual-camera manipulation in Maya from on-set iPads. Its artists use Boris FX Mocha Pro for planar and facial tracking, Foundry Nuke for compositing and keying, and a high-performance workstation pipeline built around Lenovo ThinkStations and AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO and EPYC processors. The infrastructure supports complex simulations, high-resolution assets, and CPU/GPU rendering without relying exclusively on large offsite render farms.

Selected work

The studio contributed previs, postvis, and final visual effects to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two, including the blue-eye “Eyes of Ibad” work and extensive environment shots. Other reported credits include David Fincher’s The Killer, for which it created a photorealistic digital double of Michael Fassbender; Alien: Romulus; Ballerina; Joker: Folie à Deux; Extraction 2; Thor: Love and Thunder; and The Marvels.

For television and streaming, Wylie Co. has worked on The Studio, The Last of Us Season 1, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and The Stand. Its work on The Last of Us included delivery of final shots and quality control across a broader multi-vendor pipeline.
