About Unit Image
Unit Image is a Paris-based studio creating high-end 3D animation and visual effects for video-game cinematics, trailers, episodic animation, advertising, music videos and feature-film work. Founded in 2010 by computer-graphics artists and directors Léon Bérelle, Dominique Boidin, Rémi Kozyra and Maxime Luère, the company combines creative direction with a full CGI production pipeline.
Its work spans development through final delivery: story concepting, scriptwriting, storyboarding and art direction; concept art and visual development; character, creature and environment design; 3D scanning and digital-double creation; rigging, keyframe and motion-capture animation; FX simulation, lighting, rendering, compositing and visual-effects integration. The studio also develops production tools and custom shaders, including stylized toon-shading approaches alongside photorealistic work.
Screen and game work
Unit Image has built a substantial body of game-cinematic and trailer work for major franchises including Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, Star Wars Eclipse, God of War Ragnarök, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Horizon Forbidden West, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, The Division, For Honor and ZombiU.
The studio also directed two episodes of Netflix’s Love, Death & Robots: Beyond the Aquila Rift and Snow in the Desert. Its streaming work includes animation on Amazon Prime Video’s Secret Level, for the episodes The Queen’s Cradle and The Once and Future King.
Creative range
Beyond games and series production, Unit Image has made commercials and brand films for clients including Oasis, Peugeot, Cartier and Canal+. Its projects range from photorealistic character work and digital doubles to stylized animation, as reflected in its collaboration with CRCR and Epic Games on Juice WRLD’s Empty Out Your Pockets Fortnite music video.
Operating within the Unit Group holding structure, the studio continues to produce international animation and VFX work while preparing original feature-length animation.

Leadership and production technology
- Léon Bérelle is co-founder, CEO and CTO; Maxime Luère, Dominique Boidin and Rémi Kozyra are co-founders and directors. Marie Balland leads productions, while Geoffroy de Cathelineau manages finance and administration, Éric Gougelet leads HR, and Pauline Diou-Georges oversees talent acquisition and crew management.
- The company has invested in proprietary production technology and R&D supported by the CNC and France 2030. Its related Scan Engine operation uses synchronized 192-camera photogrammetry rigs for high-detail facial and full-body capture, supporting digital-double work for Unit Image projects and external clients.
