About Umedia

Umedia is a Belgian film and television production and financing group based in Brussels. Founded in 2004 as Motion Investment Group and rebranded in 2010, it works on international audiovisual projects through co-production, development, physical production and Belgian Tax Shelter financing. Its activities span feature films, scripted television, animation and documentaries, connecting creative development with financing and production execution.

From development to delivery

The company supports projects from script analysis and budgeting through packaging, production management and delivery. Its development work includes in-house script development and creative adaptation for Belgian and European films and television series. As a co-production partner, Umedia brings together financial structuring and practical production support for projects involving European and international partners.

Physical production services focus on Belgium, where the company provides line producing and supervises production execution. These services sit alongside executive production and co-production management, allowing Umedia to participate at several stages of a project's development and realization.

Belgian Tax Shelter financing forms another central part of its operating model. Through its financing arm, uFund, the group sources and manages investment for qualifying audiovisual productions. This activity supports both Umedia projects and third-party European productions, complementing its work in project packaging and production.

Development of the group

Umedia expanded internationally during the 2010s before consolidating its direct production activities in Brussels following changes in founding ownership and management. Its subsequent focus has been on Belgian and European operations, supported by international co-production relationships.

The group's visual effects activities developed into the separately managed UFX Studios brand. Umedia's production and financing business remains distinct from that studio's dedicated visual effects and post-production work.

Its production and financing history includes involvement in films such as The Artist, The Broken Circle Breakdown, John Wick, Mandy and The Pod Generation, alongside television projects including The Night Manager.

More about Umedia

Leadership and founders

  • Co-CEO Bastien Sirodot oversees in-house and executive production. Co-CEO Laurent Jacobs oversees Tax Shelter operations, investor relations, finance and legal administration.
  • The founders were Adrian Politowski, Nadia Khamlichi and Jeremy Burdek. Politowski and Khamlichi left management to establish Align in 2019 and sold their remaining ownership interests by 2020.

Operating scale and financing model

The report describes Umedia as co-producing and financing more than 50 audiovisual projects annually and supervising over 250 shooting days in Belgium. Annual Tax Shelter capital deployment is approximately €35 million to €40 million. Its financing offering can fund up to 42% of qualifying Belgian expenditure or 25% of EEA expenditure, subject to qualification.

The reported 51–200 employee range covers the consolidated group network, including production, uFund and UFX Studios; it is not a count of staff employed directly by the holding entity.
