U Films

U Films is an independent audiovisual production company focused on auteur cinema, international co-productions and independent film distribution. Founded in 2012 by producers Virginia Hinze and Lucía Gaviglio Salkind, the Montevideo-based studio develops fiction and documentary projects for national and international audiences.

The company combines creative development with executive production and production services. Its work includes structuring international co-productions, coordinating public and private financing, managing production logistics, and supporting projects through post-production coordination and distribution strategy. U Films also assists productions in navigating Uruguay’s audiovisual incentives, including the Programa Uruguay Audiovisual cash-rebate framework.

Production approach

U Films tailors financial, creative and technical workflows to the individual needs of each project. This approach supports directors and producing partners working across Latin American and European co-production markets, with experience spanning feature fiction, documentaries and culturally focused audiovisual work.
