About Thera Bytes
Thera Bytes is an independent game development studio founded in 2015 and based in the Munich metropolitan area of Bavaria, Germany. Its work spans commercial PC and console games, applied games for healthcare and medical research, and tools for other developers. The studio develops simulation, strategy and action projects, with a current focus on tactical cooperative multiplayer games.
The company's early work connected entertainment with digital health. Through collaborations with academic and healthcare institutions, it developed games intended to support medical research and digital health applications, including Science Hero. This applied-game background sits alongside its commercial development work and consulting in serious games and gamification.
Games and developer tools
In Zombie Cure Lab, players build and defend research facilities while working to cure zombies rather than destroy them. The tactical laboratory builder entered Early Access in 2022 through publisher Aerosoft, combining management systems with a post-apocalyptic setting.
Thera Bytes also co-developed Global Farmer, an agricultural management simulator released on Steam in 2024. Its environments use real-world OpenStreetMap data to let players establish farms in locations around the world.
The studio's developer tools include Better UI, a Unity editor extension that helps developers create resolution-independent user interfaces. This tooling work complements its experience building interactive systems for both entertainment and applied uses.
Development capabilities
As of October 2026, the studio is developing EVAC, a working-title first-person tactical cooperative shooter built with Unreal Engine 5. The project emphasizes realism, immersion and team-based military simulation.
Thera Bytes offers full-cycle game development and design, prototyping, production and co-development for PC and console projects. Its capabilities bring together multiplayer action, simulation systems, interface tooling and the use of game technology in scientific and healthcare contexts.
