About Tactical Adventures

Studio Overview

Tactical Adventures is an independent video game development and publishing studio based in Paris, France. Founded in 2018 by industry veteran Mathieu Girard—a co-founder of Amplitude Studios—the company specializes in creating immersive, turn-based tactical role-playing games (CRPGs). The studio is widely recognized for its commitment to faithfully adapting tabletop role-playing rulesets into digital formats, emphasizing mechanical depth, 3D verticality, and authentic party-based gameplay.

Development Philosophy

The studio’s core mission is to bridge the gap between the complexity of pen-and-paper gaming and modern interactive entertainment. By securing official licenses to utilize Dungeons & Dragons System Reference Documents (SRD), Tactical Adventures integrates authentic mechanics—such as dice-rolling, spellcasting, and tactical positioning—into high-fidelity 3D environments. The team operates on a hybrid model, with staff collaborating across studios in Paris and Lyon to maintain a human-scale development environment of approximately 35–37 employees.

Corporate Structure & Evolution

In February 2025, Tactical Adventures became an affiliated studio within the Kepler Interactive ecosystem following the acquisition of a majority stake by the publisher. Despite this partnership, the studio retains its creative independence and continues to develop its own intellectual properties. The studio is currently focused on the production of its next major title, Solasta II, which utilizes Unreal Engine 5 and the 2024 D&D SRD 5.2 ruleset to expand upon the narrative and exploration systems established in their debut franchise.
