About Sun Creature
Sun Creature is an independent audiovisual production company specialising in hand-drawn 2D and hybrid animation. Founded in Denmark in 2013, the studio develops and produces animated feature films, episodic series, game cinematics and branded work, combining traditional frame-by-frame craft with 2.5D, puppet-based and mixed-media techniques.
The company works across the full animation-production process, from concept development, scriptwriting and storyboarding through character and background design, layout, animation, compositing and final delivery. Its visual approach emphasises cinematic storytelling, expressive character performance, dynamic composition, anatomy in perspective, and light-and-shadow design.
Screen and Series Work
Sun Creature has contributed to a range of long-form productions, including the animated documentary Flee, Cartoon Network’s The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe, and Netflix and Ubisoft Film & Television’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. The studio is also involved in feature projects including Werner Herzog’s The Twilight World, Will Sharpe’s Absolute Surrender, and the stylised graphic-novel adaptation Tyler Cross.
The studio’s early creative collaboration grew from The Reward: Tales of Alethrion, a crowdfunded fantasy project launched after a viral debut. Since then, Sun Creature has expanded its work across European co-productions and international animation pipelines, operating through Danish and French production entities.
Commercial and Interactive Animation
Alongside original and co-produced entertainment, Sun Creature creates animated commercials, campaign films, digital shorts and game cinematics. Selected work includes the Travel Oregon: Only Slightly Exaggerated campaign and cinematics or promotional films for Genshin Impact, Brawl Stars, Apex Legends, and Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
Its production model supports international co-financing and co-production for features and series, as well as studio services for broadcasters, streaming platforms, game publishers and brands. The result is a body of work that moves between independent film, television, interactive entertainment and commercial storytelling while retaining a distinctive hand-crafted animation sensibility.
