About Studio Isar Animation
Studio Isar Animation is a Munich-based CGI animation studio creating feature films and series for children and family audiences. Founded in 2018, it brings together artistic development and technical production across a complete computer-animation pipeline. The company was established within the Studio 100 entertainment group to develop in-house capacity for animated feature production.
Its work spans the stages from early visual development to finished imagery. Pre-production capabilities include concept art, moodboards, character and environment design, props, storyboarding, animatics, color scripting and previsualization. Production covers 3D modeling, rigging, grooming, look development and character animation, followed by lighting, shading, effects simulation and compositing. Digital matte painting and pipeline technical direction support this work.
Feature animation and collaboration
The studio’s first in-house CGI feature production was Maya the Bee: The Golden Orb (2021), co-produced with Flying Bark Productions. Subsequent work includes CGI animation and visual effects for Mia and Me: The Hero of Centopia (2022), followed by Giants of La Mancha (2024). It served as lead animation studio on Heidi – Rescue of the Lynx (2025).
Its reported production slate also includes Arnie & Barney, a theatrical spin-off from Maya the Bee developed with Spanish partner 3Doubles Producciones. Another reported project, Dougie Dolittle, involves collaboration with Caligari Film and 3Doubles Producciones. These projects reflect a production model combining internal animation capabilities with feature-film co-production partnerships.
Rendering and production support
Alongside animation production, the studio offers in-house rendering, quality-control supervision and render-farm capacity rental for external clients and third-party co-productions. Its capabilities serve theatrical animation as well as animated television, broadcast and streaming projects, with a consistent focus on children’s and family entertainment.

Establishment and industry context
The studio's establishment received financial support from the Bavarian regional film fund FFF Bayern. Before its creation, Studio 100 had largely outsourced CGI modeling, lighting and rendering to external production vendors; the new studio brought those capabilities into the group.
