About StoryToys

StoryToys is a Dublin-based developer and publisher of children’s educational entertainment apps and mobile games. Founded in 2008, the studio creates child-focused digital play experiences that combine gameplay, learning and well-known family entertainment brands for children aged two to eight.

Its early work helped establish interactive 3D pop-up books on mobile and tablet devices, translating classic fairytales into tactile digital experiences. Today, StoryToys develops character-led games, digital colouring worlds and gamified learning products for iOS, Android and Amazon Fire.

Production capabilities

StoryToys’ in-house team works across game design, Unity development, mobile engineering, 3D modelling, texturing, rigging, animation, quality assurance and digital publishing. Its production approach includes custom rendering tools and mobile-optimised pipelines designed for interactive play on family devices.

The company also manages live operations, app-store publishing, subscription products and in-app content expansions. Its products are designed around child-safety and privacy requirements, including COPPA compliance through PRIVO Safe Harbor certification and EU GDPR standards.

Branded children’s experiences

StoryToys works with major children’s and entertainment rights holders, including The LEGO Group, The Walt Disney Company, Marvel Entertainment, Mattel, Hasbro, Penguin Random House, Sesame Workshop and BBC Studios. Its catalogue includes LEGO DUPLO World, Disney Coloring World, LEGO Bluey, LEGO DUPLO PEPPA PIG, The Very Hungry Caterpillar – Play & Explore, LEGO DUPLO MARVEL and Barbie Color Creations.

The studio’s releases span premium titles, in-app expansions and a recurring subscription model. StoryToys reports more than 300 million downloads across the iOS, Google Play and Amazon app stores.

StoryToys is an active operating company within everplay group plc, the umbrella group formerly known as Team17 Group plc. It remains focused on children’s edutainment as one of the group’s distinct publishing pillars.

Leadership and company history

  • Emmet O'Neill is identified as StoryToys’ CEO. The company was founded by Aidan Doolan and Kevin Doolan under the original corporate moniker Ideal Binary Limited.
  • In 2016, StoryToys merged with educational game publisher Amplify Games and digital publisher Touch Press to form Touch Press Inc. Team17 Group plc acquired Touch Press Inc. and its core StoryToys operating business and assets on 2 July 2021; the parent subsequently rebranded as everplay group plc in January 2025.
