About Steamroller Animation
Steamroller Animation is an independent, artist-owned studio producing high-end 3D character animation for feature films, episodic television and AAA video games. Its work combines animation production for external clients with the development of original games, animated shorts and series. Based in Florida, the company also operates a full-service production branch in Mauritius and works with a distributed international team.
The studio’s capabilities span character, creature and facial performance animation, alongside gameplay animation and in-engine cinematics. Its production offering extends into concept art, character design, storyboarding, visual development, 3D layout, modeling and rigging. Technical artists support projects through custom rigging pipelines, production tools, pipeline technical direction and Unreal Engine implementation. Visual effects and 2D effects complement its animation work, allowing the studio to contribute across several stages of production.
Animation for games and screen
Steamroller has worked as an external animation partner for developers and entertainment companies including Epic Games, Blizzard Entertainment, NetherRealm Studios, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Guerrilla Games, Insomniac Games and CD Projekt Red. Its credited game work includes Fortnite, Overwatch 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Mortal Kombat 1, Horizon Forbidden West and Cyberpunk 2077. Screen credits include Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Predator: Killer of Killers.
Original storytelling
The business began operating in 2014 with the development of Curse of the Deadwood, a twin-stick couch co-op action game that subsequently received a commercial release in 2022. Its original animation includes the 2019 science-fiction short Spice Frontier, its subsequent pilot series, and the animated short Master. These projects sit alongside the studio’s client production work and reflect its continuing investment in internally developed storytelling.
Founded in Eustis, Florida, the studio moved its headquarters to Mount Dora in 2018 as its production business expanded. The Mauritius branch followed in December 2020, contributing directly to international client projects and internal intellectual property.
