About Sparx*

Sparx* is a Vietnam-based external development studio producing game art, animation, cinematics and visual-effects work for interactive entertainment, film and television. Operating as a Virtuos studio, it combines a long animation heritage with a current focus on full-pipeline 3D content production for AAA games and entertainment projects.

Its work spans character and creature art, environment and level art, concept development, technical art, rigging, keyframe animation, motion-capture cleanup, lighting, and real-time effects. The studio also creates in-engine cutscenes and pre-rendered CGI cinematics, with production experience in Unreal Engine and Unity. For episodic and feature work, its capabilities extend to full-episode 3D animation, feature CGI and live-action VFX asset creation.

Game development support

Sparx* supports co-development teams from asset creation through technical integration, including:

  • High- and low-poly modelling, texturing, sculpting, hard-surface and vehicle art
  • World building, blockouts, asset dressing and optimisation
  • Look development, scene lighting, particle systems and post-processing
  • Character animation, rigging and real-time cinematic production

Its reported game credits include Demon's Souls, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, The Quarry, The Callisto Protocol, Marvel's Midnight Suns, League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, The Outer Worlds and Disney Infinity.

Animation and screen work

The studio's earlier history began in Paris in 1995 as Sparx Animation Studios, with Ho Chi Minh City operations opening in 2002. Its animation work has included Rolie Polie Olie, Igor, Star Wars Rebels seasons two through four, and LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars. It has also contributed digital assets and VFX support to productions including The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Jurassic World and Transformers: The Last Knight.

Virtuos acquired Sparx*'s assets, production pipeline and core creative and technical team in 2011. Since then, the studio has developed into a larger external-development operation serving game publishers and entertainment clients while continuing its animation and cinematic practice.
