About Soft Rains

Soft Rains is an independent video game development and creative consulting studio based in Toronto, Canada. Founded in 2022 by a multidisciplinary collective of AAA and independent game developers, it creates original games and provides development support to other studios. Its work combines worldbuilding, speculative fiction and character-driven storytelling, with a particular focus on single-player first-person adventures and immersive simulations.

The studio develops with Unreal Engine 5, bringing together stylized art, interactive environments and narrative systems. Its original projects emphasize care and exploration, using unusual gameplay interactions to connect players with fictional worlds and the people who inhabit them. The team works remotely across Canada.

Original games

Its debut original property, Ambrosia Sky, is a first-person science-fiction “clean 'em up” set in an abandoned asteroid cluster within Saturn’s rings. Players follow Dalia as she removes toxic alien fungal outbreaks, encounters unstable zero-gravity anomalies and lays deceased colonists to rest. Cleaning and exploration support a story concerned with grief and remembrance, placing environmental interaction at the centre of the experience.

Ambrosia Sky: Act One launched for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store on November 10, 2025. The concluding storyline, Ambrosia Sky: Act Two, followed on August 6, 2026. Together, the releases establish the studio’s approach to combining narrative adventure with simulation mechanics.

Development and consulting

Alongside original production, Soft Rains offers full-cycle game creation, co-development and targeted support. Its capabilities span rapid prototyping, core mechanics, system design, engine architecture, gameplay balancing, stylized 2D and 3D art, and narrative design.

The studio also helps development teams establish modular workflows, build pipeline tools and optimize technical performance. Its consulting services extend to executive production, live-operations planning, certification and submission, studio compliance, and tax and subsidy advisory. This combination of production and consultation allows it to contribute both to individual development disciplines and to the broader planning and delivery of a game.
